Water conveyance project to operate under BOT system

Nov 14 2021

The official spokesman for the Ministry of Water and Irrigation, Omar Salama, has said that the National Water Conveyance Project will be implemented on a (build-operate-transfer (BOT) system, according to Alrai news. •

The ministry has studied presentations from five companies regarding the project. Under BOT systems, a company is responsible for construction and operation of a project, which is then transferred to the government after 25 years. The National Water Conveyance Project, which is supposed to be implemented in 2023, will provide around 300 million cubic meters of water and aims to contribute to supporting agriculture, halting well drilling, and countering the effects of climate change.
