IRENA to Mobilise Energy Transition Action at COP26

Oct 18 2021

Despite progress under way in the energy transition and growing net-zero commitments in the ‘Race to Zero’, the world is not on track to limit global warming to 1.5°C. Consensus has formed that an energy transition grounded in renewable sources and technologies is the only realistic way to meet the global goals of the UN Agenda for Sustainable Development and Paris Agreement.

At COP26, IRENA will centre-stage energy transition benefits for countries, encouraging ambition and showcasing best practices how commitment can translate into concrete action and implementation on the ground. Forerunners of the energy transition are already creating a more resilient energy system, while advancing economic growth and creating jobs.
